AR Tool Shows Planned Changes for Downtown Chico
The City of Chico has launched an augmented reality tool that allows the public to visualise proposed changes to the city centre as part of the Downtown Revitalisation Project. This effort aims to prepare for infrastructure enhancements and to reimagine downtown streets and public spaces to serve the community better.
Explore several QR decals placed at intersections along Main Street and Broadway. Simply scan with your smartphone to experience interactive 360-degree visualisations and discover possible street design alternatives through augmented reality. The decals will be available until 30 April, so don’t miss your chance to participate! Find the exact decal locations and explore the project designs on the project’s online page.
The project encourages you to explore proposed upgrades, such as new bikeway facilities, redesigned intersections, wider pavements, and enhanced landscaping. Through the visualisations, you can explore a range of project alternatives and view improvements from various viewpoints within the downtown streetscape.
The augmented reality platform also lets the public submit feedback. Participants can visit the project webpage and share comments using the given contact email link. The city seeks community input as part of the planning process for the proposed infrastructure alterations and future improvements to the area.
Residents, business owners, and visitors are warmly invited to join in by scanning the QR codes located throughout the district and exploring the project alternatives. We welcome your feedback to help shape the future of downtown Chico. Visit the project webpage and share your thoughts. The City of Chico encourages participants to enjoy augmented reality features in public spaces while remaining aware of their surroundings.
